OtW! RPG Classes

Disclaimer: not all these classes will appear in the comic. Some are just mentioned here for your amusement.

Paladin
"Holy knight" is what they'd call themselves. Someone who walks around with a sword, fights for truth and justice, and likes to talk about rules. Very boring, but hard to avoid, as they're often the main character.

Knight
A person with a sword, who fights for truth and justice, but isn't anal enough to be a Paladin.

White Mage
One who casts healing-related spells. A cheaper alternative to lots of healing potions. Usually as boring as a Paladin, but much more indispensible.

Black Mage
One who blows things up in a variety of ways. Usually no good at physical combat, but great in a fight unless your enemies are immune to magic.

Summoner
One who can call super-powerful creatures (called Espers) from another realm to come assist briefly in the mortal world. Usually also skilled at black or white magic.

Red Mage
Can cast both black and white magic, but usually so weak as to be worthless.

Blue Mage
One who studies spells of monsters. Such magic is illegal in all civilized kingdoms, and its study and casting is punished harshly.

Magic Knight
One who casts black magic through a channeling weapon (usually a sword). Basically a cross between a Black Mage and a Knight.

Thief
One who steals stuff. Seriously. And even though most adventurers want one along to steal from monsters, stealing is still illegal. If you want a Thief, you should check the prisons first. They'll grant temporary quest parole to Thieves on the good behavior list.

Bard
Most people claiming to be Bards are just wimps who happened to find a magic harp. Real Bards are skilled in mind control and coercion, and are scary, scary people. In short, you should avoid Bards at all costs.

Espers
Powerful magical creatures, often human in form, who come visit the mortal realm to aid their friends, the Summoners.

Berserker
Someone who attacks things berserkly. Usually with an ax. Not Darron, despite what Elliot says.

Dragoon / Dragon Knight
People born with a limited flight ability that lets them jump really, really high. They live wherever the dragons are, and often don't relate well to normal people.

Dark Knight
An evil knight. Yes, really. They tend to be minions of the villain, because they are just warped Paladins and so still really like following orders. They have been known to discuss rules with Paladins for months at a time. So long as you don't run into any Paladins or the Dark Knights' true masters, Dark Knights will be quiet, valuable contributors to your questing party.
